No login lock. The porous feed ring geometry (fixed fractions 1/2·R₀ and 2/3·R₀ of the outer radius) is baked directly into the area formula in the original — this is the bearing design itself, not a demo restriction, and is preserved exactly.
Method & references
- Externally pressurized (udv) aerostatic thrust bearing, porous annular feed ring fixed between R₀/2 and (2/3)R₀.
- Load coefficient from a piecewise-quadratic fit of the recess/ambient pressure ratio (two branches, split at pᵣ/pₐ=6); stiffness by finite difference at h₀/2 perturbation.
- Ambient pressure is fixed at 1 bar in the original; the pₛ input is the supply/ambient pressure ratio.
The computation is a literal port of the original client-side JavaScript from /calculators/e14_5.htm. Results are verified equal to the original by an automated golden-master test. No formula has been re-derived or “improved”.
