Aerostatic thrust bearing, simple orifice restrictor — fixed reference geometry (A)

Reference-geometry calculator (Ø40mm outer diameter, 5µm film, β=0.6 pressure ratio — fixed, matching the original) for an aerostatic thrust bearing with a simple orifice restrictor. Vary feed diameter, pressures and discharge coefficient.

The legacy "please login" demo lock froze D0/H0/B1 to these exact values. Unlike c12_4b2/c12_4f, this formula ALSO hardcodes the outer radius directly in the mass-flow and load terms, so simply removing the lock would silently produce wrong results for any other size. This port keeps the original fixed geometry and formula exactly, and only exposes the inputs that were already free to vary. Fully generalizing it (replacing the hardcoded radius with the D0 input everywhere) is a deliberate future decision for Anton, not made here.

  • Aerostatic thrust bearing, simple orifice restrictor, discharge-coefficient form.
  • FIXED GEOMETRY: outer diameter 40 mm, film 5 µm, β=0.6 — the original hardcodes the outer radius directly into the formula (not only via the demo lock), so this is presented honestly as a reference-size calculator, not a general one.
  • Generalizing the outer radius is a real model change and is not done here — see docs/locked-calculators-review.md.
